The Influence of Marital Conflict in Multicultural Families on Children's Shame: Moderating Effect of Parenting Attitude

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of parenting attitudes in the relationship between marital conflict and shame perceived by children from multicultural families. To this end, data were collected through a survey of children from multicultural families(grades 4-6) attending 80 elementary schools in 14 regions in Jeollabuk-do. For the final analysis, regression analysis was performed using the data of a total of 283 people. The main research results are as follows. First, the higher the marital conflict, the higher the child's shame. Second, rejective parenting attitude raises children's shame. Third, it was confirmed that parental attitudes in the Autonomy- Restriction level Moderating children's shame. Based on these results, a proposal was made on a support program for multicultural families. This study is meaningful in that it examines factors in the home that influence shame of children from multicultural families, and discusses ways to alleviate shame of children from multicultural families.
